Boniface opened scoring for Xabi Alonso’s side in the 30th minute, however, the hosts equalized in the 74th minute.
Werder Bremen gifted the Black and Reds their second in the 77th when Felix Agu hit the back of his own net.
Romano Schmid levelled for the home side in the 90th minute as both sides shared points.
