Manchester City Croatian defender, Josko Gvardiol, has said, the European encounter against Club Brugge on Wednesday night is a must win for the English side.
The Cityzens must win the match against their Belgian opponents to secure a spot in the competition’s play-offs.
Gvardiol said, “Tomorrow is a final for us”, adding, “our confidence is quite good”.
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City boosted their confidence when they came from the back to beat Chelsea 3-1 in the Premier League 2024/25 match on Saturday 25 January, 2025 at Etihad Stadium.
Manchester City and Club Brugge will slug it out in the UCL League Phase match on Wednesday 29 January, 2025 at Etihad Stadium at 21:00 (WAT).
The Croatian left-back believes home advantage will be helpful for the Cityzens against the “really good” Blue-Black.
At his press conference ahead of the game, Gvardiol said:
On City’s confidence…
“Tomorrow is a final for us… we want to be in the next stage. Our confidence is quite good. We are at home and we will have a huge spirit from our fans. I think we will be ready.”
On Club Brugge…
“I can tell you they [Club Brugge] are a good team. There’s a reason they are here in the Champions League. It won’t be easy. I faced them with Leipzig and they were really good. They like wide wingers and try to play one-v-one so I think it will be a good game. We need to win and we will do everything to win it.”
