33-year old Chao Xu, a serial rapist, who drugged his victims and hid cameras inside an air freshener has pleaded guilty to twenty-four (24) sex offences.
Xu of Greenwich, Southeastern region of London, admitted four counts of rape, eight counts of assault by penetration, four counts of sexual assault, four counts of voyeurism, two counts of administering a substance with intent, and two counts of operating equipment under the clothing of another in the absence of consent, rampantly known as upskirting.
Woolwich Crown Court heard, the offences were committed between February 2022 and June 2025 against at least twelve (12) victims.
Believed to have been residing in the United Kingdom (UK) since 2013, Xu, a Chinese, was discovered to have installed hidden cameras in an air freshener and in bathrooms at several locations, encompassing a workplace and London Bridge Underground station.
Xu was also found by the Police with hundreds of cozy images and videos of women that appeared to be filmed without consent.
Detectives were called to Xu’s crimes after he organized a networking event at one of his properties in Greenwich in June.
When one of the women who attended felt unwell, Xu offered for her to stay, before on several occasions raped her, the Metropolitan Police disclosed.
The woman later discovered she was drugged by Xu with substances known to cause drowsiness and incapacitation.
Lewis Sanderson, Detective Chief Inspector, said: “Xu is a calculated prolific sex offender, who has preyed on unsuspecting women using cowardly methods – administering drugs to rape, sexually assault and take intimate images without consent.
“Our investigation is ongoing and we continue to examine the large amount of evidence we have collected, which will help identify any further potential victim-survivors.
“We’re also asking anyone who has any information about Xu or believes they may have been a victim to come forward – you will be listened to.”
