Premier League Club, Tottenham Hotspur, has signed attacking midfielder, Xavi Simons, from German Bundesliga Club, RB Leipzig, subject to international clearance and work permit.

According to the Club’s official website, in his post-signing comments, Xavi Simons said: “I’m really happy and can’t wait to get going. I’ve been dreaming of this for a long time.

“It’s a great Club and when I met the Head Coach I knew straight away that this was the right place for me.

“I will bring flair to the team but also hard work and discipline. I want to do everything I can to win, for the team and also for the fans.”

A juvenile attacking midfielder, who can also field as a winger, Xavi’s early days as a footballer were spent with Spanish side Club Deportivo Thader before he moved ahead with his development in the academies of FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

The Dutchman’s breakthrough season emerged in 2022/23 as he made his way back to his homeland of the Netherlands and featured for PSV Eindhoven.

Recording the perfect kick off to life in Eindhoven with a goal on debut as PSV lifted the Dutch Super Cup, the then 19-year-old went ahead to be named Talent of the Season after ending as the top goalscorer of the Eredivisie with nineteen (19) goals. He also played a pivotal role as his side claimed the Dutch Cup in April, 2023.

Head Coach, Thomas Frank, said: “I’m really pleased we have brought Xavi in – he is a great addition to the squad.

“He is still young, however he already has good experience and, over the past few years, has played a lot of games at the top level.

“Xavi has proven his ability to get goals and assists, both from the number 10 position and left-wing. He also has a great eye for his team-mates in terms of unlocking defences, and I know he will come in and be part of a good team that is already working hard together.”
