Manchester City recorded a beautiful 4-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League 2025/26 opener at Molineux on Saturday 16 August, 2025.
Debutants, Tijjani Reijnders featured and Rayan Cherki netted a fine goal as both helped the Cityzens clinch a winning start to the new top flight season.
Dutch midfielder, Reijnders, moved to Etihad Stadium in a £46.3m switch from AC Milan this summer and instantly showcased his class on his first Premier League appearance as Pep Guardiola’s side made a statement of the readiness for the title fight.
Striker, Erling Haaland, opened scoring for the visitors in the 34th minute, and Reijnders added the second three (3) minutes later.
Haaland scored his brace and third for City in the 61st minute and Cherki sealed it up with the fourth in the 81st minute.

In his post-Wolves comments, Guardiola said: “First half good, second no. The attitude and many things were good, but the second half, they were better in certain moments but it’s good to improve winning 4-0. All the new ones [were impressive]. Tijjani was one of the best players in Serie A, he has an unbelievable rhythm.”
