Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State, has congratulated D’Tigress on their victory in the 2025 AfroBasket in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire.
Nigeria defeated Mali 78-64 in the final on Sunday 3 August, 2025 in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire.
Obi said, D’Tigress “played like true queens of the court and made Nigeria proud.”
He praised Coach Wakama for her “leadership and belief in the team”, describing her as a “true champion maker”.
The outcome means Nigeria has carted home the trophy five (5) consecutive times; and a total of seven (7) times.
In his congratulatory message via X, Obi wrote: “Mission V accomplished
“Congratulations D’TIGRESS, you did it.You played like true queens of the court, fearless, fast, and unstoppable.
“Again, you’ve made Nigeria proud, you’ve made Africa proud, and you’ve made history by being the AfroBasket champions 5 times in a row.
