‘Bayern Munich’s aims are in line with mine’ – Luis Diaz

New addition, Luis Diaz, has made known his reasons for joining German giants, Bayern Munich.

The Colombian winger moved to Allianz Arena from English side, Liverpool, after helping Arne Slot’s Reds win the Premier League 2024/25 – the Club’s 20th.

Diaz said, he moved to Bayern Munich because the “club’s aims are in line with mine”, adding, “the priority is to help the team” attain “success”.

According to FC Bayern official X account, at his first press conference after putting pen to paper for the Bavarian, Diaz said:

On reception at the club…

“Hello everyone! I’m very happy to be here in Munich at this great club. My first impressions were very good. I’ve not had much time yet but I’ve been welcomed very warmly and look forward to getting to know everyone.”

On his move…

“I wanted to join FC Bayern because the club’s aims are in line with mine and I wanted to move to a big team – the club has incredible history. We want to win everything. My aim is to help the club and have success as quickly as possible.”

On his preferred position…

“I can play up front or on the wing. The coach has told me he sees me preferably on the left side, but I’ll play where I’m needed. I want to help the team, that’s the priority.”

On his character…

“I like to enjoy football, I always have a smile on my face. I want to enjoy every moment that life gives me. I have a strong character on the pitch. Smiling is always important. Being at such a big club is special.”

On fielding alongside former Premier League rivals, Harry Kane and Michael Olise…

“I’m really looking forward to playing with them, but also with the entire team. Harry is a strong striker with incredible qualities, he will support me a lot. Michael has similar qualities to me. I will learn a lot from the others and am very happy to share the locker room with them. I want to get to know them all.”

Luis Diaz moved to the German Bundesliga 2024/25 Champions on a four year deal, until 2029.
