Liverpool ‘devastated’ by ‘tragic’ death of Diogo Jota in car crash

Premier League club, Liverpool, has released its statement following the “tragic passing” of its forward, Diogo Jota, in a car crash in Spain.

The Portugal international died alongside his brother, Andre Silva, in the unfortunate incident after his car has a tyre burst while trying to overtake another car.

The newly crowned Kings of England stated, it is “devastated” by the passing of Jota, who was very pivotal in the Club’s Premier League 2024/25 glory.

According to the club’s statement via its official website:

“Liverpool Football Club are devastated by the tragic passing of Diogo Jota.

“The club have been informed the 28-year-old has passed away following a road traffic accident in Spain along with his brother, Andre.

“Liverpool FC will be making no further comment at this time and request the privacy of Diogo and Andre’s family, friends, teammates and club staff is respected as they try to come to terms with an unimaginable loss.

“We will continue to provide them with our full support.”

Jota, who just got married to his longtime partner last month, helped Portugal clinch the Uefa Nations League 2024/25 with a 5-3 penalty victory over Spain.

He was twenty-eight (28).
