Cristiano Ronaldo has sent his condolences to the family of Portugal teammate, Diogo Jota, following the death of the forward in a car crash in Spain.
Jota, Liverpool forward, died in the car mishap alongside his brother, Andre Silva, after the car, a Lamborghini, ran off the road after tyre blowout while overtaking another car, local Police revealed.
Ronaldo, who recently renewed his contract with Saudi Professional League club, Al Nassr, cried, “it doesn’t make sense”, saying, “just now we were together in the National Team”.
Ronaldo alongside Jota helped Portugal emerge winners of the Uefa Nations League 2024/25; defeating Spain in the final 5-3 in a penalty shootout after playing out 2-2.
“It doesn’t make sense. Just now we were together in the National Team, just now you had gotten married. To your family, your wife, and your children, I send my condolences and wish them all the strength in the world. I know you will always be with them. Rest in Peace, Diogo and André. We will all miss you”, Ronaldo wrote on X.
Jota helped Liverpool become Kings of England after winning the Premier League 2024/25; the Club’s 20th.
