‘The planet is getting hotter and more dangerous’ – Guterres

United Nations (UN) Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, has called for “more ambitious #ClimateAction “.

Guterres made the call as he experiences firsthand “extreme heat” in Spain during the Financing for Development Conference.

The UN Chief said, “extreme heat” has now emerged the “new normal”, adding, it is no longer a “rare event”.

He further said, Earth is “getting hotter and more dangerous” and no country is safe from the effect of climate change.

Guterres posted on X: “Extreme heat is no longer a rare event — it has become the new normal.

“I’m experiencing it firsthand in Spain during the Financing for Development Conference.

“The planet is getting hotter & more dangerous — no country is immune.

“We need more ambitious #ClimateAction now.”
