The Super Eagles of Nigeria have expressed disappointment after losing 1-2 to Rwanda in their final Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifier at Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Monday 18 November, 2024.
Samuel Chukwueze placed Augustine Eguavoen’s side in front before the Wasps levelled and then went ahead to net the winner to clinch all three (3) points from the encounter.
Both goals for Rwanda came within three (3) minutes, however, despite the win, the Wasps still failed to make it to Morocco as they finished third with eight (8) points, same as Benin, who progressed based on goal difference.
Super Eagles wrote: “We are disappointed to have ended our great run in the Afcon 2025 qualifiers with a home loss. We will bounce back. Thank you for all your support through the qualifiers and see you in Morocco. #soarsupereagles “
Nigeria and Benin secured their spots in the AFCON 2025, while Rwanda and Libya will be missing in the continental football tournament.
