Ganduje resigns as APC National Chairman

Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, CON, has resigned as the National Chairman of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to reports, the former Kano Governor resigned on health reasons.

Ganduje reportedly put forth his resignation to the ‘Broom’ Party’s National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, on Friday in Abuja.

In 2023, Ganduje was appointed National Chairman of the APC by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Bashir Ahmad, Special Adviser to former President, Muhammadu Buhari, wrote on X: “The National Chairman of our great party, the All Progressives Congress(APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has resigned from his position, effective immediately, as confirmed by multiple sources.”

He served as Governor of Kano State from 2015 to 2023 after previously serving as Rabiu Kwankwaso’s Deputy Governor twice, from 1999 to 2003 and from 2011 to 2015.

Ganduje was under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from 1998 to 2014, and defected to the All Progressives Congress in 2014.

Born in 1949 to a Fulani family in the Ganduje village, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State.
