Reno Omokri has made known his concurrence with President Tinubu’s declaration of State Policing as the solution to insecurity in Nigeria.
He said, “President Tinubu’s declaration that state police is the solution to insecurity, such as the Benue attacks, is spot on.”
Omokri’s statement is coming following the recent “brutal killings” in Benue State that claimed more than 100 lives.
In the wake of the attacks in the North Central State, President Tinubu urged Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia, to ensure that the warring parties reconcile; and charged Security Chiefs to bring back peace and security to the State.
Omokri said, he “completely and unequivocally” agrees with the President, National Assembly and all State Assemblies to adopt the State Policing proposal put forth by the President.
Reno Omokri wrote on his official X account: “Benue Killings: President Bola Tinubu Is Right On State Policing
“President Tinubu’s declaration that state police is the solution to insecurity, such as the Benue attacks, is spot on. It is the right solution for the blight pollution. I completely and unequivocally agree with the President and urge the National Council of State, the National Economic Council, the National Assembly, and all State Assemblies to accept and adopt this proposal offered by President Tinubu.
“Community policing will bring about security and stability to the grassroots.
“The President (represented by the Minister of Defence) is right in saying:
““The debate over state police is no longer theoretical. It is grounded in the daily fears and lived anxieties of Nigerians: farmers afraid to tend their fields, traders unsure of safe passage, and communities abandoned to self-help.”
“This President has demonstrated leadership by not just issuing condolences but also coming up with workable solutions. That is leadership. By this, the people of Yelwata, as well as the larger Middle Belt people, can see that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
“We cannot continue doing the same things and expect the same results. We need a new approach, and the President has shown courage in defining and promoting that approach.
“I therefore call on all Nigerians to align with the idea of State Police so that more of our people do not die at the hands of bandits, terrorists, secessionists, criminals and other non-state actors.”
