Nigeria U17 head coach, Bankole Olowookere, has expressed his gratitude to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) “for the faith and trust in me to lead the Nigeria U17 team.”

Coach Olowookere guided the Flamingoes through the recently held FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic, winning all preliminaries, but, fell in the quarter finals to the USA.
In Group A, Nigeria defeated New Zealand, Ecuador and hosts, Dominican Republic, 4-1, 4-0 and 1-0 respectively, to advance into the last eight (8) of the tournament.
The Flamingoes fought hard but couldn’t overpower the USA, and crashed out after a 2-0 defeat.
In his message of appreciation, Coach Olowookere wrote: “I’m excited to get my maiden nomination in the CAF Coach Of The Year Award.
This came under my immense contribution and growth of women’s football in Nigeria and in the World Cup.
I want to appreciate the NFF for the faith and trust in me to lead the Nigeria U17 team.”
The CAF Awards 2024 is scheduled to hold on Monday 16 December, 2024 in Marrakech, Morocco.
