Barcelona have taken the crown from Real Madrid as new Kings of Spain after the clash against Villarreal, the Catalans lifted the Spanish La Liga trophy on Sunday.
Hansi Flick’s Barcelona lost 2-3 to Villarreal in the La Liga match on Sunday 18 May, 2025; the Catalans came from behind to lead the Yellow Submarines 2-1 at half-time, however, ended up losing 3-2 in the second-to-last fixture of the season.
A. Perez opened scoring for Villarreal early, in the 4th minute, after converting an assist from Nicholas Pepe, but, the hosts responded with a double from Lamine Yamal and Fermín Lopez in the 38th and 5th minute of first half additional time.
The visitors fought back and netted twice in the 50th and 80th minutes through S. Comesaña and T. Buchanan respectively.
It’s Hansi Flick’s first La Liga title in his first season as Barcelona manager.
HC: Hansi Flick is a very tactical coach. Ancelotti met him four times and Flick won all beautifully. This means nothing for Mbappe.
