President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, has sent his “warmest congratulations” to the 267th Pope, Leo XIV, elected head of the Catholic Church.
Pope Leo XIV was elected the new Bishop of Rome on Thursday 8 May, 2025 following the Conclave that started on Wednesday 7 May, 2025 inside the enclosed Sistine Chapel, Vatican, Rome, Italy.
The Burkinabe Leader prayed, “I hope that he will be a spiritual guide close to the people and their deep aspirations.”
In his congratulatory message to Pope Leo XIV, Captain Traore wrote: “I extend my warmest congratulations to the 267th Pope, Leo XIV, elected head of the Catholic Church.I hope that he will be a spiritual guide close to the people and their deep aspirations, a man fully committed to the service of dialogue, security, peace and for greater social justice and true solidarity throughout the world.
“Happy pontificate to Pope Leo XIV!”
