Premier League 2024/25: Brentford 4-3 Manchester United – Luke Shaw hits his own net

Luke Shaw’s own goal slammed Manchester United with a slender defeat on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester United suffered a 3-4 loss in the hands of Brentford in the Premier League match at Brentford Community Stadium on Sunday 4 May, 2025, where Ruben Amorim fielded the youngest Premier League XI in the club’s history.

With next Thursday’s UEFA Europa League semi-final second leg against Athletic Club taking high priority, Portuguese manager, Amorim, made eight (8) changes to the line-up from the first leg and the Bees eventually capitalized.

Mason Mount opened scoring for the Reds in the 14th minute, converting Alejandro Garnacho’s assist, before Shaw found the back of his own net to gift Brentford a leveller in the 27th minute.

K. Schade took the hosts two goals ahead in the 37th and 70th minutes, before Y. Wissa netted the fourth for Brentford in the 74th minute.

Reds fought back and scored two goals through Garnacho and Amad Diallo in the 82nd minutes and 5th minute of additional time respectively, however, were unable to find a point from the encounter.

With this outcome, Brentford are 9th with 52 points while Manchester United are 15th with 39 points.
