The Presidential Committee on the upcoming Census held a “strategic meeting to review the budget and identify funding sources for the census exercise” on Friday 25 April, 2025.
Few days ago, President Bola Tinubu inaugurated the Presidential National Census Committee where he gave a three-week deadline for report.
A State House Press Release disclosed:
Nigeria’s last census was in 2006, nearly two decades ago. It recorded a population of 140,431,790, with 71,345,488 males and 69,086,302 females. President Tinubu stressed the pivotal role of a technology-driven process in ensuring credible and verifiable results and the need for collaboration among all relevant agencies and stakeholders.
According to National Population Commission: “Today, the Presidential Committee on the upcoming Census, under the chairmanship of the Honourable Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, held a strategic meeting to review the budget and identify funding sources for the census exercise.”
