The newly inaugurated Presidential Committee on the next Census has held its inaugural meeting at the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning where the Committee clarified its role as an ad-hoc advisory body to provide funding strategies.
Recently, President Bola Tinubu inaugurated the Presidential National Census Committee and charged them with a three-week deadline for report.
Via a State House Press Release, “The committee will submit an interim report within three weeks. The President said the census is crucial for national development, accurate planning, and effective decision-making in healthcare, education, security, and economic planning. Nigeria’s last census was in 2006, nearly two decades ago. It recorded a population of 140,431,790, with 71,345,488 males and 69,086,302 females.”
According to National Population Commission: “the newly inaugurated Presidential Committee on the next Census held its inaugural meeting at the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning. The Committee Chairman, Sen. Atiku Bagudu, clarified the committee’s role as an ad-hoc advisory body to provide funding strategies.”
