Uefa Europa League 2024/25: Manchester United 5-4 Lyon – Maguire scores winner in extra time

English side, Manchester United qualified for the Uefa Europa League semi-finals after a stunning extra-time comeback against French side, Lyon.

It was the first nine-goal clash in Europa League history, and it saw Manchester United let a two-goal lead slip, as ten-man Lyon came from behind to lead 4-2; however, late goals in extra time from Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire sealed a memorable 5-4 victory (7-6 on aggregate) for Ruben Amorim’s Reds, who will now lock horns with Spanish side, Athletic Club, in the Europa League last four.

Goalkeeper, Andre Onana, was very helpful in United’s victory over Lyon as he “made some crucial saves”.
