Premier League 2024/25: Leicester 0-3 Newcastle – Nistelrooy and Foxes continue free fall

Newcastle United heaped more woes on relegation-bound, Leicester City, making light work of the hosts by winning three (3) goals to nil (0) in the Premier League match at King Power Stadium on Monday 7 April, 2025.

The outcome pulled more momentum for Eddie Howe’s side’s next season Uefa Champions League qualification.

The Magpies moved atop reigning Kings, Manchester City, on the table to the fifth spot next after Chelsea, and level on points with the Blues, despite still having a game unplayed.

Winger, Jacob Murphy, scored a brace for the visitors – opened scoring early in the 2nd minute and added the second in the 11th minute, before Harvey Barnes sealed victory for Newcastle in the 34th minute.

Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s Leicester have emerged the first side in the top four tiers of English football to lose eight (8) home league games succesively without scoring a goal, as they sit tightly 15 points from safety with seven games remaining.

Leicester will now look forward to ensuring that a 10th loss doesn’t happen on Saturday when they take on Brighton at Amex Stadium.

HC: Definitely not good record for Dutch manager and former player, Nistelrooy. Eight home games and not even a single goal…!!
