Mark Carney is set to be sworn in as the next Prime Minister of Canada as Justin Trudeau formally steps down after nearly ten (10) years in power.
Carney, the new Leader of the ruling Liberal Party, will announce his cabinet after taking the oath of office in Ottawa.
He is expected to call a federal election ahead of resumption of parliament later this month, sending Canadians to the polls as early as late April.
Carney, a former central banker and an economist, is becoming PM in the midst of heightening tensions over US President Donald Trump’s tariffs and threats against Canada.
