In a video shared on social media, the official is seen getting out of her car, at the moment when a man approaches her and points a gun directly at her, a few centimeters away. However, he was unable to fire the pistol, apparently because it was poorly loaded.

Immediately, security personnel accompanying the vice president reacted and arrested the alleged aggressor, although, if the weapon were to have worked properly and fired, they would not have been able to prevent the attack against the wife of former president Néstor Kirchner.

The first reports indicate that the aggressor is a citizen of Brazilian origin and that the weapon with which he tried to shoot contained five bullets.

In a message to the nation, President Alberto Fernandez issued a message where he expressed his “strong condemnation” and decreed this Friday, September 2, as a holiday, for no other reason.

He described the event as “extremely serious” and “the most serious that has happened since we have recovered our democracy.”

He pointed out that: “Cristina remains alive because, for a reason not yet technically confirmed, the weapon that had five bullets did not fire despite having been triggered,”

He also mentioned that “such a reality moves the entire Argentine people and in particular those of us who are her companions who embrace her in solidarity with all our love.” MARCA

Hoy en Argentina trataron de matar a @CFKArgentina. Tenemos que cuidar a @petrogustavo. Los grupos de reacción “solidaria” están latentes esperando la oportunidad.
