Recall, in June, there was a mass shooting as well as a bomb attack at a Catholic Church in the city of Owo, Ondo State, which led to the loss of more than 40 lives.
Due to this unfortunate occurrence and several other criminal activities happening in the state, Gov. Akeredolu, has come out to bare his mind on how to upgrade the operations of Amotekun by allowing the security outfit “to bear sophisticated tools to fight back”, and protect lives and properties.
He made the statement, during the “Passing-Out Parade of Courses 3 & 4 of the State Amotekun Corps”.
He “stated that Amotekun must be allowed to bear tools and the most sophisticated weapons available to fight back against marauders committing crimes against humanity”.
Governor Akeredolu also made known his willingness to be “up-to-date” in repelling “crime and criminality” within Ondo State with the “donation of 50-fitted patrol vehicles”.

He said, “the recent donation of 50-fitted patrol vehicles is a testament to our resolve to be up-to-date in fighting crime and criminality because without a secure environment, there can never be visible and sustainable development.”
Governor Akeredolu also assured that his administration will not relent in extending support to the “operational capacity of all security agencies” in Ondo State, both in “equipment and personnel welfare”.
“Let me reiterate that our administration will continue to support the operational capacity of all security agencies in the state both in terms of equipment and welfare of their personnel. Our commitment to the safety and welfare of the people and investors remains unshaken,” he said.
