2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup: Nigeria’s Flamingos fail to reach final after fall to Colombia in semifinal penalty shootout

The Flamingos of Nigeria have fallen to Colombia in the semi-final of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, India 2022, thereby failing to qualify for the final.

Nigeria lost 5-6 to Colombia in a penalty shootout, after the match ended without a goal.

The last penalty kick which was taken by Folorunsho was saved by the Colombian goalkeeper.

The Nigerian girls kept the Colombian side, who had a higher morale, in check all through the encounter.

The Flamingos of Nigeria made history for emerging the first African team to reach the semi-final of the tournament after scaling through the United States of America in the quarter-finals by winning 4-3 in a penalty shootout.

Nigeria will lock horns with the loser between Germany and Spain in the third place match on Saturday.
