After a goalless first half, Nico O’Reilly opened the scoring from an assist by Cherki in the 51st minute. The French attacking midfielder’s cross was beautifully headed in by O’Reilly.
Cherki was the provider again, this time for Marc Guehi, who added the second for the EFL Cup 2025/26 Champions just six (6) minutes after.
The Frenchman released a through pass to Guehi, former Chelsea player, who made it two (2) with a low finish into the far corner to force the fans into huge celebrations.
And, in the 58th minute Jeremy Doku sealed it up for City with the third.
Chelsea’s goal earlier in the game by Marc Cucurella was cancelled by Video Assistant Referee (VAR) for offside and Pedro Neto’s shot was stopped by goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma.
