The Islamic Republic of Iran has subtly called on the United Nations (UN) to intervene after Donald Trump, President of the United States (US), threatened to strike Electric Power Plants and Bridges in Iran for refusing to open up the Strait of Hormuz.
The US President said, Tuesday will be “Power Plant Day and Bridge Day'” in Iran if the Iranians fail to reopen the Hormuz Strait.
In its cry for help from the international community on X, Iran said, Trump publicly issued a threat to “destroy infrastructure essential to civilian survival” in the country.
I.R.IRAN Mission to UN, NY, the Iranian Permanent Mission to the United Nations (UN) in New York, posted: “Once again, the U.S. President openly threatens to destroy infrastructure essential to civilian survival in Iran. He stated that: “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day and Bridge Day. all wrapped up in one, there will be nothing like it!!!””
It said, the UN would not be “silent” if its “conscience were alive” as Trump issued such a “shameless” threat.
It posted: “If the conscience of the United Nations were alive, it would not remain silent in the face of the overt and shameless threat by the war-mongering President of the United States to target civilian infrastructure. Trump seeks to drag the region into an endless war.”
It called on the international community, as well as, all States to activate their “legal obligations” and ensure the threat is not carried out; adding, action must be taken “now not tomorrow”.
The Iran Mission further posted: “This is direct and public incitement to terrorise civilians and clear evidence of intent to commit war crime.
“The international community and all States have legal obligations to prevent such atrocious acts of war crimes. They must act now. Tomorrow is too late.”
