Turkey, China and Russia have reacted following the “attack and killing” of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Supreme Leader of Iran, on Saturday by American and Israeli Forces.
President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, expressed his “deep sadness” by the attacks by the United States (US) and Israel against its “neighbour”, Iran.
Erdogan blamed the attacks on lack of “trust” from the parties and the efforts by Israel to “poison the process”.
The Turkish President condemned the attacks, and said, it was a “clear violation” of the sovereignty of Iran; Erdogan also did not hesitate to condemn Iran’s attacks against “brother” countries in the Middle East, describing the move as “unacceptable”.
China, through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Spokesperson, said, the killing of Khamenei is a “grave violation” of the sovereignty of Iran.
China said, the principles of the United Nations (UN) Charter have been “trampled”; and called for the “immediate stop” to the attacks.
Through its Embassy in Pakistan, Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, expressed his condolences to Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran, following the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Khamenei, alongside his family.
Putin said, Khamenei will be remembered as an “exceptional statesman” in Russia.
Israel Emergency Services disclosed, an Iranian missile struck homes in Beit Shemesh, killing more than five (5).

Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of Turkey, reacted on X: “As Türkiye, while working for an environment of peace, security, and stability to prevail in our region and the Islamic world during these blessed days, we are deeply saddened and concerned by the American-Israeli attacks launched against our neighbor Iran amid Netanyahu’s provocations.
“However, the desired outcome could not be achieved, as neither the trust deficit between the parties could be overcome nor did Israel’s efforts to poison the process come to an end.
“In addition to the clear violation of Iran’s sovereignty, we condemn with regret this morning’s attacks that target the peace of the friendly and brotherly Iranian people.
“Likewise, we find Iran’s missile and drone attacks against our brother countries in the Gulf unacceptable, whatever the reason may be.”
China MFA Spokesperson reacted on X: “The attack and killing of Iran’s supreme leader is a grave violation of Iran’s sovereignty and security. It tramples on the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and basic norms in international relations. China firmly opposes and strongly condemns it.
“We urge for an immediate stop to the military operations, no further escalation of the tense situation and joint effort to maintain peace and stability in the Middle East and the world at large.”
Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, wrote on X: “Dear Mr. President,
“Please accept my deepest condolences on the assassination of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, and his family members, committed in a cynical violation of all norms of human morality and international law.
“In Russia, Ayatollah Khamenei will be remembered as an exceptional statesman who made an enormous personal contribution to fostering friendly relations between Russia and Iran, elevating them to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership”
