Donald Trump, President of the United States (US), has made known, he will attend the “last” return of six (6) American soldiers who were killed in the war with Iran.
On Saturday, Trump will attend the dignified transfer of six (6) US troops killed in an Iranian strike on Kuwait.
The dignified transfer of the “Great Warriors” will take place at the Dover Air Force Base, an important American Air Force Installation located in Delaware.
The US President will attend the event alongside the First Lady and Members of his Cabinet to pay their “highest respect” as the slain troops make their way back home “for the last time”, Trump made known on Truth Social.
The troops were killed on Sunday when a drone hit a crucial US command center in southern industrial hub of Port Shuaiba in Kuwait, just a day after the United States and Israel launched a sweeping military campaign against Iran.
The soldiers who fell – five (5) men and one (1) woman aged 20 to 54 – had been assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command, a unit with the responsibility to supply troops with food, fuel, equipment and ammunition.
A dignified transfer is one of the most distinguished duties carried out by an American President.
President Trump announced: “The fallen soldiers — five men and one woman aged 20 to 54 — were assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command, a unit responsible for supplying troops with food, fuel, equipment and ammunition.”
The process is a cautiously choreographed military ceremony in which flag-draped transfer cases conveying the remains of fallen troops are carried from an aircraft by a team of service members from the same branch.
The cases are then moved to vehicles waiting to transport them to the mortuary facility at Dover, where the Armed Forces Medical Examiner System carries out identification and prepares the remains for burial.
During his Presidency, Trump has attended several of such transfers and the White House had previously said he would honor the six killed in Kuwait, even before a date was made public.
Karoline Leavitt, Spokeswoman of the White House, said: “Tomorrow, he’ll be traveling to Joint Base Dover, to attend the dignified transfer of the remains of the six service members who were killed in the opening salvo that Iran launched at our forces.”
The attack that fell the six (6) US troops has exposed the risks American personnel deployed across the Middles East face as the fighting with Iran escalates.
The Iranians have launched drones and missiles against American and allied targets across the region.
A warning from US officials say, the fighting could heighten more in the days ahead.
