Kaja Kallas, European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, has described Nigeria as a “political heavyweight” and an “anchor” in the region.
Kallas made the statement in Abuja while making her press remarks with Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs (MFA), after the EU-Nigeria Ministerial Dialogue.
Via X, Kallas said, the partnership between the EU and Nigeria continues to grow “stronger”, adding, both sides will “deepen” cooperation from “counterterrorism, trade and investment”.
In her press mark, Kallas said: “Nigeria is a political heavyweight and a regional anchor. Our partnership continues to grow stronger.
“There is real momentum to deepen our cooperation, from countering terrorism and managing migration to boosting trade and investment.”
Kallas, who also met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, tagged the EU a “reliable and predictable” for Nigeria, saying, Europe is dedicated to bolstering its partnership with the West African country.
She expressed her pleasure meeting with the Nigerian Leader, and disclosed, her discussions with President Tinubu will “kick off an ambitious new chapter in our EU-Nigeria relations”.
