2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, said, Aba will always be a “home for garment and shoe production”.
He added, the Southeastern City will “contribute” to his plan of “moving” Nigeria from consumption to production; he said, the “challenge” the country is facing remains “competent leadership”.
Obi made the statement when he took a trip to Aba in Abia State to honour the invitation of the “representative of the people” Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, as well as, to meet stakeholders of the Coalition Party, African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The former Governor of Anambra State thanked the Senator for the “warm” reception, and, hailed Alex Otti, Executive Governor of Abia State, for the “good work” he has accomplished in Enyimba City.
On X, Obi made known, he had his first interview of the year on a radio station in the State where he expressed his gratitude to the ADC for the “good” interaction he had.
Obi, who decamped from the ‘Papa, Mama and Pikin’ Party in 2025, said: “When I speak about moving the country from consumption to production Aba remains one of the cities that will contribute immensely to that as it remains a home for garment and shoe production.
“Both products, garments and shoe remains top and earn as much as we earn from oil for Bangladesh and Vietnam respectively and can do so for Nigeria if well managed and supported.
“Our challenge remains Competent leadership with capacity, compassion, and commitment to the development of our country as it is in other comparable nations.”
