Official: Tottenham has sacked manager Thomas Frank

English Premier League club, Tottenham Hotspur, have relieved Danish manager, Thomas Frank, of his managerial functions at the club after less than eight (8) months in control.

Fans of Tottenham booed Frank and called for his sacking after the Spurs fell to Newcastle United 2-1 in the Premier League encounter on Tuesday 10 February, 2026 right on home turf.

Frank is leaving the club on the 16th spot in the Premier League 2025/26 standings with just five (5) points above relegation zone.

Tottenham Hotspur have only emerged victorious in just two (2) games in their last seventeen (17) top flight matches under the Danish boss.

Frank’s sacking was a “decision” the club made on Wednesday 11 February, 2026, some hours after the home loss to the Magpies.

Thomas Frank arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in June 2025, however, has performed way below expectations, with the Spurs recording a very poor run.

Via a Statement, the Club said, the “results and performances” under Frank have forced the Board to reach a conclusion that sacking Frank at this point in the campaign is “necessary”.

The Club hailed Frank for his “conduct” during his short stay with the Spurs, Uefa Europa League 2024/26 Champions, adding, he was “unwaveringly committed” to the forward movement of the Club.

Tottenham Hotspur official statement on the sacking of Thomas Frank reads: “The Club has taken the decision to make a change in the Men’s Head Coach position and Thomas Frank will leave today.

“Thomas was appointed in June 2025, and we have been determined to give him the time and support needed to build for the future together.

“However, results and performances have led the Board to conclude that a change at this point in the season is necessary.

“Throughout his time at the Club, Thomas has conducted himself with unwavering commitment, giving everything in his efforts to move the Club forward. We would like to thank him for his contribution and wish him every success in the future.”

Thomas Frank’s move to Tottenham Hotspur

Danish pro football manager, Thomas Frank, joined Tottenham Hotspur from Premier League outfit, Brentford, in 2025.

He was a youth coach for eighteen (18) years, which encompassed periods as manager of multiple Danish national youth teams.

Frank became a senior manager with Brøndby in 2013, and departed in 2016; he joined Brentford, where he became assistant manager and was elevated into the position of head coach in 2018.

He helped Brentford gain promotion to the English top tier football, The Premier League, and went ahead to help the club emerge a mainstay in the top flight.

After seven (7) years at Brentford, in 2025, Frank joined Tottenham Hotspur as head coach, sadly, his reign only lasted eight (8) months.

Frank took over managerial role at Tottenham from Greek manager, Ange Postecoglou, who guided the Spurs to UEL 2024/25 glory, defeating Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United by a lone goal in the final in Spain.

What next for Tottenham Hotspur?

Tottenham Hotspur will face Arsenal in the Premier League match on Sunday 22 February, 2026 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at 17:30 (WAT).

The club is working towards replacing Frank with a new manager; they are weighing options for the 52-year old, whether to make a permanent appointment or an interim.
