Fighting from the back twice to level, Belgian Pro League club, Club Brugge, held Spanish La Liga club, Atletico Madrid, to a 3-3 draw in the Uefa Champions League 2025/26 knockout phase play-off on Wednesday 18 February, 2026 at Jan Breydel Stadium in Bruges, Belgium.
Club Brugge, who were two goals at the back before the break, fought really hard to level in the second half to keep the Play-off tie open.
Diego Simeone’s Mattress Makers went two goals in front through Julian Alvarez and Super Eagles of Nigeria forward, Ademola Lookman, in the 8th minute from the penalty spot and 4th minute of first half additional time respectively.
But, the home side pulled one back through Nigeria midfielder, Raphael Onyedika, in the 52nd minute, and Nicolo TresoldI levelled eight (8) minutes later.
Atletico Madrid went in front again after Joel Ordonez gifted the visitors the third, hitting the back of his own net, in the 79th minute, but, Club Brugge, who are third on the Belgian top flight table, levelled through Christos Tzolis late, in the 89th minute.
Tzolis ensured Club Brugge’s efforts of clinching a point did not go to waste as he well converted Onyedika’s assist.
Simeone headed into the game after guiding Atletico to a beautiful 4-0 victory over Barcelona in the Copa Del Rey, but, what followed was shocking as the Argentinian watched his side fall 3-0 in the hands of Rayo Vallecano.
