2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has called on all Nigerians to come out in their numbers and vote; on X, he assured in 2027, “our votes must count'”.
The former Governor of Anambra State, who decamped from the Labour Party (LP) in 2025 and joined the Coalition Party, African Democratic Congress (ADC), encouraged Nigerians to not leave their polling units after casting their votes in the 2027 General Elections so they can experience for themselves the “counting and transmission of results”.
The ADC, which comprises of different members, some who decamped from their former Political Parties, has the mission to dethrone the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 Nigeria General Elections.
The Coalition Party has assured, it will prioritise the welfare of all Nigerians.
Obi said, “all those who are there”, but, with no intention to count the votes “will be counted among those destroying Nigeria”; he added, they will also be made to “count the full weight of the law against rigging”.
He reiterated, anyone who refuses to count our votes will be counted among those “destroying” Nigeria’s democracy – that means the person(s) is/are destroying the future of Nigeria and Nigerians, and, “must answer to the law”.
Obi posted: “Unlike in the past, in 2027 our votes MUST count, and all those who are there not to count the votes will be counted among those destroying Nigeria.
“I encourage everyone to remain at the polling units after voting to count and witness the counting and transmission of results. Those who refuse to allow the votes count will be made to count the full weight of the law against rigging.
“Let me reiterate: if you do not count our votes, we will count you among those who destroy our democracy, thereby destroying our future, and you must answer to the law.”
In the 2023 Presidential Election, Obi, who contested as the Labour Party (LP) Presidential candidate, came third after the results were announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC); Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) came second, while, Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged winner of the tightly-contested election.
