Win AFCON 2025, get ‘$1m and $100k for each goal scored’ – Nigerian businessman Rabiu to Super Eagles

With the aim to “inspire” the Super Eagles to glory at the Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) 2025 in Morocco, Nigerian Businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu, has pledged a whopping “$1,000,000” for the players if they emerge victorious in the final.

The BUA Founder also pledged a huge sum of “$100,000 for each goal” netted in the final.

Alhaji Rabiu’s pledge is coming after the Super Eagles ousted Algeria in the quarter final of the AFCON 2025 on Saturday 10 January, 2026 at Stade De Marrakesh.

After Victor Osimhen’s opener and Akor Jerome Adams’ goal for the West African nation, the ticket for a spot in the semi finals of the tournament was bagged.

The Chairman of BUA, a Nigerian Conglomerate that focuses on manufacturing, infrastructure and agriculture, also pledged “$500,000” for the players upon defeating host nation, Morocco, in the last four.

He added, “$50,000” for each goal netted in the showdown, which is scheduled to take place at the 69,500 capacity Stadium in Rabat on Wednesday 14 January, 2025 at 21:00 (WAT).

Bashir Ahmad, former Special Adviser to Late President, Muhammadu Buhari, posted on X: “Wow! Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu has just made an extraordinary pledge to inspire the Super Eagles to victory. He has committed $500,000 to the players upon winning the semi final, with an additional $50,000 for every goal scored in the match.

“Should the players go on to clinch the final, he further pledges $1,000,000, plus $100,000 for each goal scored in the final.

“Truly, this is huge.”

The other semi final match between Senegal and Egypt will take place on same Wednesday at Tangier Stadium.

Senegal reached the last four after a lone goal victory over neighbours, Mali, in the quarter finals, while, Egypt beat reigning champions, Ivory Coast, 3-2, at Stade De Agrar in Agadir.

In his congratulatory message to the Super Eagles on X, Alhaji Rabiu wrote: “Congratulations to our Super Eagles players on a brilliant victory against Algeria!

“You have lifted the spirit of the nation, and we proudly cheer you on as you prepare for the semi-finals.

“To encourage you, I pledge USD $500,000 to the players upon winning the semi-final, with an additional USD $50,000 for every goal scored.

“Should you go on to win the final, I further pledge USD $1,000,000, plus USD $100,000 for each goal scored in the final.

“Wishing you continued success as you carry Nigeria forward.

“Keep making Nigeria proud.

“Proudly Nigerian”
