‘When will this whole CAF compensation to Morocco end’ – Asisat Oshoala reacts after Super Eagles’ loss to Atlas Lions

Super Falcons striker, Asisat Oshoala, has reacted to the outcome of the semi final match between Nigeria and Morocco on Wednesday.

The former FC Barcelona striker said, “when will this whole @CAF_Online compensation to Morocco end”.

The Super Eagles fell to the Atlas Lions 2-4 in a penalty shootout after both sides finished goalless in 120 minutes in Rabat.

Asisat Oshoala reacted: “The big question here is when will this whole @CAF_Online compensation to Morocco end. Awards , tournaments n all……it’s getting boring now. We need other countries to step up. Everything concerning African football happens in Morocco , feels like that’s the new HQ”

Morcoo will now face Senegal in the AFCON 2025 final on Sunday 18 January, 2026 in Rabat at 20:00 (WAT).

Replies to Asisat Oshoala:

@OlumideIDOWU posted: “It’s a valid concern, because when awards, tournaments, and decisions repeatedly center around one country, it risks undermining fairness and confidence in African football, and CAF must ensure broader inclusion and balance across the continent.”

@IamEriOluwa posted: “Hopefully this will encourage other countries to step up and compete for the opportunity.

“We can’t just allow one country to dominate all of us. It’s not even about being robbed. It’s just the right thing to do.”

@AFCONInRabat posted: “Morocco has not hosted AFCON since 1988. Many countries hosted more than once during that lapse. The focus on Morocco now, in addition to it providing world-class infrastructure, is because it will co-host the World Cup in 2030, representing Africa. We need your support.”

@d_osinaike posted: “But look at the stadiums and the facilities and tell me they don’t deserve to be the HQ. Let’s compare that to Nigeria and the previous Nations Cup.”

@ewisdomdaily1 posted: “But kámápurọ́ kamájalè, Morocco outplayed us and deserved to win, even before regulation time. Ndidi’s absence left too much gap. Iwobi was coming back to get balls and also tracking back to mark, which totally disrupted his flow.

“Once Iwobi was caged, ópamí nìyen, he was the only creative player in the team. Akor was just too poor and the coach left him on the pitch for almost 90 mins. I don’t want to talk about Chukwueze”
