Dapo Abiodun, Executive Governor of Ogun State, has signed the ₦1.669 trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill, tagged the Budget of Sustainable Legacy, into law.
The move marked another step towards bolstering the Southwestern State’s “fiscal planning and development agenda”, the Governor said.
The State’s 2026 Budget is a “58 percent increase” over the 2025 Appropriation.
Governor Abiodun posted on X: “We have signed the ₦1.669 trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill, tagged the Budget of Sustainable Legacy, into law, marking another important step in strengthening Ogun State’s fiscal planning and development agenda.
“The budget, which represents a 58 per cent increase over the 2025 appropriation, reflects our growing financial capacity and our commitment to driving sustainable growth across the state.”
He said, the implmentation of the budget will begin immediately after the holidays so as to bring about “improved performance in revenue generation and prudent expenditure”.
Governor Abiodun said: “With the assent to this budget, we will commence immediate implementation after the holidays to ensure improved performance in revenue generation and prudent expenditure.
“Signing the budget before the end of the year aligns with our long-standing tradition of fiscal continuity, predictability, and effective governance, allowing our development programmes to proceed without delay.”
He thanked the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly for “timely passage” of the Bill.
Abiodun further posted: “We appreciate the Speaker and members of the Ogun State House of Assembly for their diligence, cooperation, and timely passage of the bill.
“Their thorough scrutiny and collaborative engagement with the Executive underscore our shared commitment to serving the best interests of Ogun State and delivering lasting value to our people.”
