Driver of SUV involved in Anthony Joshua’s accident case charged to Court

The Ogun State Police Command has announced, 46-year old driver, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, of the Lexus SUV involved in Anthony Joshua’s accident case has been charged to the Sagamu Magistrate Court on Friday 2 January, 2025.

The road accident which happened along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State claimed the lives of two (2) close friends of the 36-year old British heavyweight boxer, and left the two-time heavyweight champion with injuries.

Joshua, who was taken to hospital for injuries was discharged after doctors at the Lagoon Hospital in Ikoyi, Lagos State confirmed he is “clinically fit” to fully recover at home.

After being discharged from hospital, Joshua alongside his mother, were at the funeral home of his friends, who are being prepared for repatriation, to pay their last respects.

An Update by the Ogun State Police Command signed by DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, Police Public Relations Officers, Ogun State Command, Eleweran, Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Friday 2 January, 2025, reads: “The Ogun State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that the driver of the Lexus SUV involved in the Anthony Joshua accident case, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode (male), aged 46,

“was charged to the Sagamu Magistrate Court today, 2nd January, 2026 and the case has been adjourned to 20th January, 2026.”
