Sunday Oliseh reacts to social media suggestions he lacks support for Super Eagles

Former Super Eagles of Nigeria defensive midfielder, Sunday Oliseh, has reacted to “recent suggestions” via social media which says, he “lacks support for the team”.

The suggestions on social media came after he gave his analysis on the showdown between Nigeria and Tanzania in the ongoing Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) 2025 in Morocco.

The Super Eagles fought really hard to emerge victorious over the Taifa Stars by two (2) goals to one (1) – with goals from defender, Semi Ajayi, and forward Ademola Lookman.

Oliseh said, he has dedicated his “life and career to the progress of Nigerian football” for almost “40 years”.

He added, he “firmly” supports the Super Eagles and head coach, Eric Chelle, as they fight for their fourth AFCON title in Morocco.

In his Official Statement on X, Sunday Oliseh said: “I am deeply saddened by the recent suggestions on social media that my analysis of the Super Eagles’ performance against Tanzania stems from a lack of support for the team.

“For nearly 40 years, I have dedicated my life and career to the progress of Nigerian football. While my professional duty requires impartiality and objective critique, my heart remains firmly with the players and Coach Eric Chelle.

“Constructive honesty is not a sign of dislike; it is a tool for improvement born out of a desire to see our nation succeed.Just recently, I was accused of being “too supportive” of the coaching staff.

“To now be accused of the opposite suggests a misunderstanding of my role as an analyst. My loyalty to the Green and White is unwavering and requires no defense.

“Let us move past these distractions and unite in our support for the players.God bless Nigeria.”

Next, Nigeria will face Tunisia in their second Group C match on Saturday 27 December, 2025 at 20:00 (WAT) in Fes.
