Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Executive Governor of Lagos State, has described the Eyo Festival as one of the Yoruba tribe’s “most important cultural expressions” which “connects generations and preserve traditions”.

The Governor made the statement when he received the Eyọ Ọba Alakẹtẹ Pupa, Laba Ẹkun, at Lagos House, Ikeja.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is currently holidaying in the Southwestern State, had earlier welcomed the organizers of the Eyo Festival alongside the Governor at his residence in Lagos.

The Eyo Festival is scheduled to take place on the 27th of December at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos.

Governor Sanwo-Olu posted: “I received Eyọ Ọba Alakẹtẹ Pupa, Laba Ẹkun, at Lagos House, Ikeja as they performed the Ijade Ọpa procession, led by the Ọkọlaba and the Bajulu of Lagos.

“This visit is part of the traditional rites leading up to the Adamu Orisa Play, the Eyọ Festival 2025, which will take place on the 27th of December at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos.
