Yu Dunhai, Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in Abuja on Friday 5 December, 2025 to develop the Nigeria-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; also, both sides reached an agreement to “further deepen practical cooperation” in different areas so both countries can benefit mutually.
Through the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, China made its stand known of its readiness to engage with Nigeria “to accelerate the implementation of the zero-tariff policy for Nigerian exports”, as well as, “elevate bilateral relations to a new height”.
Yi Dunhai, in his audience with the Nigerian President, said, through the joint efforts of China and Nigeria, the relations of both countries “have entered a “fast track””.
The Chinese Embassy in Nigeria disclosed via X: “On December 5, 2025, Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria Yu Dunhai had an audience with His Excellency Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Both sides spoke highly of the development of the China-Nigeria Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and agreed to further deepen practical cooperation across various fields for the mutual benefit of the two peoples.
“Ambassador Yu noted that, through the joint efforts of both sides, China-Nigeria relations have entered a “fast track.”
“The two countries have consistently understood and supported each other on issues concerning core interests, and China supports Nigeria’s efforts in combating terrorism. China stands ready to work closely with Nigeria to
“accelerate the implementation of the zero-tariff policy for Nigerian exports, strengthen the alignment of development strategies, consolidate strategic mutual trust, and elevate bilateral relations to a new height.”
