Premier League side, Liverpool, returned to their best as they dominated Spanish side, Real Madrid, with a beautiful display to cart an important Uefa Champions League 2025/26 trumph at Anfield on Tuesday 4 November, 2025.
Manager Arne Slot’s Premier League 2024/25 Winners put to an end a spell of six defeats in seven games with a 2-0 victory against Aston Villa on Saturday, and the come back went further as Real were discomfited.
After a first half that finished without a goal, Argentine midfielder, Alexis Mac Allister, broke the deadlock for the Reds in the 61st minute as former Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold watched from the bench with his new side strictly second best.
Real Madrid goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, really kept the home side at bay with series of saves, including four from Dominik Szoboszlai and a brilliant reflex stop from Virgil van Dijk’s header.
Szoboszlai was amazing in midfield, only stopped by the brilliance of Courtois, while goal scorer Mac Allister’s return to form in the last two games has also matamorphosed a side that looked clueless earlier this season.
Alexander-Arnold came on late, however, was unable to help Xabi Alonso’s Real Madrid come back, with Englishman, Jude Bellingham, and Frenchman, Kylian Mbappe, subdued – rendered powerless to deny Slot’s team an important three points.
