Liverpool’s humiliation continues, suffer 1-4 defeat to PSV at Anfield

Dutch defender, Virgil van Dijk’s handball awarded Dutch Eredivisie side, PSV Eindhoven, early penalty which Ivan Perisic slotted home.

Arne Slot’s Liverpool’s troubles continue as they conceded a miserable home loss in the hands of PSV in the Uefa Champions League 2025/26 League Phase match on Wednesday 26 November, 2025.

Liverpool, who are currently on their worst run since 1953, have now suffered their ninth defeat in twelve (12) encounters across all competitions as they were shattered by the Dutch side right on home turf.

Early, in the 6th minute, Perisic placed PSV in front from the penalty spot, but, the home side restored parity through Dominic Szoboszlai in the 16th minute.

Liverpool improved, in their desperation to turn things around, as Cody Gakpo got close, while van Dijk’s header hit against the bar.

The visitors restored their lead when Mauro Junior played a defence-splitting pass and Milos Kerkez could not stop Guus Til from scoring in the 56th minute.

The Reds’ misery got compounded when substitute Couhaib Driouech netted the third and fourth goals for PSV in the 73rd and 1st minute of additional time to cart home maximum points.

The result means the English Premier League 2024/25 Champions will need to improve as they dropped to 13th on the Champions League table.
