Former Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase, served Nigeria with “patriotism and dedication”, Peter Obi said.
The former Governor of Anambra State made the statement at the funeral mass and internment of the former Police Chief in Benin, Edo State on Friday 3 October, 2025.
Obi said, moments like this should remind us that, “true legacies are written in the values we uphold”.
Obi wrote: “Honouring the Life and Service of Dr. Solomon Arase
“Today in Benin, Edo State, I attended the Funeral Mass and Interment of former Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Solomon Arase, who served our nation with patriotism and dedication.
“At moments like this, we are reminded that true legacies are not written in the titles or positions we hold, but in the values we uphold and the impact we leave behind. Dr. Arase’s contributions to national security and his reforms within the Police Force will remain impactful in our dear nation.”
On behalf of his family and the Obidients family, Obi extended his “deepest condolences” to the Arases, and prayed Divine strength and comfort upon them to bear the loss.
