Donald Trump, President of the United States (US), has called on the Democrats to “allow the US government to re-open”.
Trump said, the closure of the US government which is happening as America records “one of the most successful Economies” in the history of the country, “has sadly affected so many programs, services”.
The US President posted on Truth Social: “Democrats have SHUT DOWN the United States Government right in the midst of one of the most successful Economies, including a Record Stock Market, that our Country has ever had. This has sadly affected so many programs, services, and other elements of Society that Americans rely on.”
The US government is shutdown as Republican and Democratic politicians are unable to reach an agreement on a way forward to resolve a budget dispute.
According to the BBC:
It means that some, but not all, US government services are temporarily suspended, and 40% of the federal workforce – about 750,000 people – are expected to be put on unpaid leave.
Under the US system, the different branches of government have to reach an agreement on spending plans before they can become law.
Trump said, he is “happy” to work with the Democrats on “anything else”, however, they must “re-open” the government first.
Trump further posted: “And it should not have happened. I am happy to work with the Democrats on their Failed Healthcare Policies, or anything else, but first they must allow our Government to re-open. In fact, they should open our Government tonight!”
