Salah’s late goal enough as Liverpool beat Burnley by lone goal

Egyptian forward, Mohamed Salah, came to Liverpool’s rescue with a very late goal as the Reds clinched a slim victory over Burnley in the Premier League 2025/26 match at Turf Moor on Sunday 14 September, 2025.

Ten-man Burnley who were hopeful of earning a point from the encounter fell at home after Salah scored from the penalty spot in the 5th minute of additional time to hand all three (3) points to the defending champions.

With the Premier League 2024/25 winners without new addition from Newcastle United, Alexander Isak, who needs more training time to get back to full fitness, Arne Slot’s side were heading to an annoying draw.

With around 80% ball possession and twenty-six (26) shots, the Reds were unable to score until they were handed the victory in additional time.

The Clarets’ Lesley Ugochukwu was shown his second yellow card and was sent off in the 84th minute.

The penalty by Salah was his only shot of the encounter.

According to Liverpool via X, in his post-Burnley comments, Salah said: “We don’t give up, we push to the limit.”
