‘Rural Nigeria truly holds the key to making our nation great’ – Aregbesola

Rauf Aregbesola, National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has said, “rural Nigeria truly holds the key to making our nation great.”

The former Governor of Osun State made the statement after paying a private visit to the Nigeria Farmers Group & Cooperative Society in Nasarawa State on Friday.

Aregbesola described his visit as “an insightful tour” as he visited the Cooperative’s cluster facilities which include, “the RUGA, farm estate and village, to the cooperative structures”.

He said, for Agriculture to prosper in the country, there is the need for “resilience, patience and long-term commitment”, adding, it remains a critical area to Nigeria’s “food availablity and security”.

Aregbesola said, for Nigerians to enjoy Nigeria then ‘Nigeria must farm” as he praised the leadership of the Cooperative for their “dedication” towards a “self-sufficient and prosperous Nigeria”.

Taking to X, Aregbesola said: “Yesterday, I paid a private visit to the Nigeria Farmers Group & Cooperative Society in Ga’ate, Kokona LGA of Nasarawa State.

“It was an insightful tour of their cluster facilities – from the RUGA, farm estate and village, to the cooperative structures. What I saw reaffirmed my belief that rural Nigeria truly holds the key to making our nation great.

“Agriculture demands resilience, patience and long-term commitment. Yet, it remains central to our food availability, food security, national security and ultimately, our sustainable development and industrial growth. Nigeria must farm, for Nigeria to work for all Nigerians.

“I commend the leadership and members of the cooperative for their dedication, and I look forward to more engagements and collaborations as we continue to build a self-sufficient and prosperous Nigeria.”
