Pressure piles on Amorim as Manchester United fall 1-3 to Brentford at Gtech

Portugese midfielder, Bruno Fernandes, had his penalty saved as Manchester United were humiliated 1-3 by Brentford in the Premier League 2025/26 match at Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday 27 September, 2025.

The Reds were losing 2-1 as Fernandes had to wait more than four (4) minutes to take his penalty in the 76th minute which was saved by Caoimhin Kelleher eventually.

Igor Thaigo opened the scoring for the Bees in the 8th minute, and then added the second twelve (12) minutes later, before the visitors pulled one back through Benjamin Sesko in the 26th minute.

The penalty which should have levelled the game was lost by Fernandes; it was his second failure from the spot-kick this season, which cost Manchester United, who are now without a win in their last eight (8) away top flight games, and have fallen back into the bottom half of the table as Brentford rise above them after a well deserved three (3) points.

Mathias Jensen sealed the win for Brentford with the third late, in the 5th minute of additional time.

Amorim’s Manchester United will have themselves to blame for the outcome, which mounts more pressure on the Reds head coach, as they accumulate three defeats in a four-match winless run at Brentford.

Following his beautiful performance for Brentford, brace scorer, Igor Thiago, was named Player Of The Match.
