Mourinho returns to Benfica as manager

Jose Mourinho has been officially appointed for the second time as manager of Portuguese club, Benfica.

This is coming twenty-five (25) years after he was first appointed to be the club’s head coach, in 2000.

A sparkling 25 years have seen the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ clinch two (2) Champions Leagues, one (1) Uefa Cup, Europa League, Conference League, eight (8) league titles and many other silverware in a career that has spanned ten (10) clubs.

Mourinho guided FC Porto to European triumph, winning the treble with Inter and managing some of the biggest clubs in the world in Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester United.

His won his last trophy three (3) years ago, winning the Uefa Conference League with Italian side, AS Roma. Prior to that feat, it was the Uef Europa League with English Premier League club, Manchester United, in 2017, and his last league title came at Chelsea in 2015.

Mourinho is joining Benfica after being relieved of his managerial duties by Turkish Süper Lig Club, Fenerbahçe.
