French forward, Kylian Mbappe’s opener helped Real Madrid to a narrow 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad in the La Liga 2025/26 match on Saturday 13 September, 2025 at Reale Arena.
Former PSG playmaker, Mbappe, netted one goal and set up another as 10-man Real Madrid maintained their 100% kick off in the new Spanish top flight season with a 2-1 win at Real Sociedad.
The Frenchman took advantage of an error in Real Sociedad’s defense and scored his fourth league goal of the season in the 12th minute, however, Madrid’s mission was made more difficult when defender Dean Huijsen was shown a red card in the 32nd minute.
Xabi Alonso’s Real Madrid’s lead was extended to two (2) goals when Mbappe turned provider for Arda Güler, who found the back of the net in the 44th minute.
The hosts fought back and managed to find a consolation in the 56th minute when Mikel Oyarzabal scored from the penalty spot.
Real Madrid are currently atop the table with twelve (12) points, winning all four (4) encounters, reigning Kings, Barcelona, are fifth with seven (7) points, while Real Sociedad are 17th with two (2) points.
Hansi Flick’s Barcelona will face Valencia in their next La Liga match on Sunday 14 September, 2025 at 20:00 (WAT).
